My Story

As a mother to five children, I have come to know through my own lived experience of babywearing just how valuable this ancient tool is for meeting the needs of both parts of the mother-baby dyad.

It became clear to me in my early years of parenting two children under the age of two that there is deep wisdom in cultural practices around parenting. I loved keeping my babies close overnight while we slept, at the breast frequently day and night, and on my chest in a supportive sling during my waking hours.

When I needed support with babywearing, I trawled online forums like Mumsnet and Facebook groups. There was no Instagram or TikTok back then. Learning to carry my baby came from observing close friends, watching long YouTube videos and searching for an online community.

It was hard. I made many mistakes and I craved a mentor.

After the birth of my third baby, it became clear to me that I had something to offer others that was simply missing from the postpartum support space. Babywearing education became my passion and my obsession. Every conversation I had with new parents included information on how babywearing might be a missing part of their toolkit.

As part of my community work, I had been running playgroups for new mothers, where I found myself spending much of my time sharing tips and tricks for ergonomic babywearing.

When I was learning to wear my babies, there was simply no one who looked like me in any of the brand imagery or instructional videos I came across. I wanted to be the change I believed was needed, so in 2020 I began posting on Instagram through a dedicated babywearing account. Since then, I have become a trusted source of online education, sharing thousands of free instructional tutorials over the years.

Why Babywearing Education Matters.

Babywearing is now an accepted and expected part of new parenthood. Carriers are readily available both online and in bricks-and-mortar stores across the country.

What is still largely missing, though, is education around how babies should be positioned in carriers, how to keep babies safe, and how to carry them comfortably throughout infancy.

That’s where I come in.

It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by the many babywearing options available. Many families end up with several slings, wraps and carriers before their baby is even born. You may be receiving targeted ads on TikTok and Instagram, or perhaps you’ve been told by well-meaning friends that a particular carrier is “the best one”.

It’s my job to help you learn which options suit you, your baby, your body and your lifestyle.
